The Max the ‘miracle’ dog bronze statue is sited in a public park in Keswick, Cumbria. It was unveiled in July 2021 has become quite a tourist attraction!
Above is a 2 minute YouTube clip showing in reverse how the statue was made. It was completely hand made in Cumbria by sculptor Kirsty Armstrong (me!) using traditional sculpting techniques. It was then expertly moulding and cast into bronze by Aron McCartney, from the Mc@rt Studios , Barnard Castle.
Although there is no official artist accreditation in the park, if you look, you can find the sculptor’s name on his bum… ‘Kirsty Armstrong 2021’. So, as well as a nose rub for ‘Max’, see if you can find and give the sculptor’s name a polish next time you’re there!
